#LP-5 FLAKEY THE SNOWMAN

Beginner/Intermediate Level     10" x 9 1/2"    33 pieces

"Flakey the Snowman" is the Fifth Release in the "Lost Patterns" Series.

This 'lost" pattern was actually a redesign of another Judy Gale Roberts' snowman pattern that Judy revamped for our very own Marianne Vander Voord  by adding snowflakes to the scarf and changing the nose and then Judy challenged Marianne to inlay the snowflakes.

Judy's challenge was accepted by Marianne and she has now brought this "flakey" little snowman out of hiding and he is no longer "LOST"! Thank You, Marianne!

For the scarf pattern pieces #5 and #28, Marianne use 1/2" thick Red Heart and cut two of each, then used one for the cutout snowflake and a solid one for the shim, which made sawing the cutouts and snowflakes easier. See her accompanying photo of this.

Woods Used: Marianne used Aspen and Red Heart for the snowman and Spanish Cedar for the nose, Spalted Maple for the back of the Chickadee and Walnut for his head and eyes.

Blades Used: Marianne's blade choices were the  PL-3 and PL-1 and the PLP-3 and PLP-1 .

For the finish, Marianne used Krylon UV Archival Satin for the Red Heart and Aspen and finished the Chickadee with Old Masters Clear Satin Gel Polyurethane.
