"Tree of Life" is the Twelfth Release in our "Lost Patterns" Series.
This "Tree of Life" was a very near and dear artwork that Judy Gale Roberts designed to capture the memories, moments, and views that she held close to her heart of her favorite camping location deep in the mountains, hills, and valleys of East Tennessee where this nearby twisted oak always spoke to her of life, ever-changing but always steadfast, twisted from the hard winds of life and still magnificent.
This pattern calls for great detail and rich texture. Judy experimented with many various details and found exquisite beauty come to life as she worked. She thought of making this particular piece an artist's limited-edition numbered series, but it is now a cherished memory that she can share with all of her Fellow Intarsia Enthusiasts!
Woods Used: Aspen and Basswood for the white and subtle rich hues of the sunbeams with different shades of Rainbow Poplar for the various hues of the grasses, and Peruvian Walnut for the tree and the birds.
Suggested Blades: PLP-#3, PLP-#5, and PL-#5 for the larger cuts and exteriors and sections. The PLP-#2/0 or the TLB-#2/0 suggested for the interior cuts.
A Wonder Wheel created the texture of the bark.
