#LP-3 AZURE TIT

Beginner/Intermediate Level     8" x 10 1/4""    73 pieces                4 pieces for background.

"Azure Tit" is the Third Release in the "Lost Patterns" Series.

This amazingly beautiful pattern was originally a Judy Gale Roberts' custom designed pattern, but over time the pattern was "lost" among her bountiful collection of many other works and creative ideas. Although the "Azure Tit" pattern was "lost", he is NOW... FOUND!  This adorable "Azure Tit" is in the family of the Chickadee and the Titmouse and resides primarily in Eurasia.

Thank You! ...to Alonna (Mary) Gaines, one of our very own Intarsists and a Judy Gale Roberts' student several times, attending 2 Intermediate classes and 2 Advanced classes. She kindly and lovingly took on this Judy Gale Roberts' pattern and offered us her expertise and creativity to interpret her vision for this great pattern and her work is beautifully represented in the photo rendering used for this Third Lost Pattern.

Woods Used: Mary used Blue Pine for the background, Aspen for the head and feathers, Charred Black Walnut for the eye, feet and beak, Spalted Ash for the back and breast as well as the willow buds, Western Red Cedar for the branch, and blue-stained Spalted Ash for the blue feathers

A 2-inch Mini-Wheel was used for adding the feather texture. The white pieces of the project were finished with Old Masters Pickling White Stain and the other pieces were finished with Old Masters Clear Satin Gel Polyurethane.

Suggested Blades: Mary's choice size was a #2 and other blades of choice might depend on what you are comfortable with for the wood chosen with a PL-3 or PLP-3 for larger cuts and sections and the TM-2/0 for interior cuts to separate the pieces.
