"Baby Puffins" is the Tenth Release in the "Lost Patterns" Series.

Judy Gale Roberts' fascination with all things whimsical in the animal world certainly found a super great subject in... Puffins! Often called "Sea Parrots" or "Clowns of the Sea" because of their very large, bright and colorful beaks that are in sharp contrast to their bashful facial appearance, along with the tuxedo black and white plumage and the cartoonish waddling clown feet, awkward landings, and rapid wing flapping make them endearingly fun to observe and love.

The only thing better than Puffins is... "Baby Puffins" and Judy probably could not resist creating this pattern for her own pleasure and for our pleasure, too, when we found it in her collection of unreleased and fun "Lost Patterns"! ...AND now we are releasing "Baby Puffins" as our Tenth Lost Pattern to complement her previous release and her 2014 Advanced Class project, the adult version: CTP-14 "Puffins". 

Thank You! ...to Crystal Fleege Moore of Peosta, Iowa who was our very gracious and talented Intarsist, who volunteered to bring Judy Gale Roberts' Lost Pattern, "Baby Puffins" to life with her vision and her dedicated work that so superbly gave us the finished piece and the photo rendering used for our Tenth Lost Pattern. 

Woods Used: Crystal used a wide variety of beautiful woods... For the rocks, she used Spalted Hackberry and Spalted Tamarind. For the Puffin bodies, she used Peruvian Walnut, Aspen, and Blue Pine. For the feet, Osage Orange and Peruvian Walnut. For the eyes, Peruvian Walnut, Spanish Cedar, Blue Pine, Ebony, and Holly. For the beak, Sycamore, Yellowheart, Walnut, and Spanish Cedar.

Suggested Blades: Crystal's blade choice was the MG-3 and MG-5. Other blades of choice might depend on what you are comfortable with for the wood chosen for larger cuts and sections and for interior cuts to separate the pieces.
