Bearded Mariner with raingear and pipe. A Wonder Wheel could be used for adding texture to the hair and beard.

Woods Used: Yellow Heart for the rain gear, Osage Orange for the darker background of the hat, Basswood for the face, Western Red Cedar for the pipe and the shading under the eyebrows, Maple Burl for the beard and eyebrows, and Aspen for the white.
Note how the osage orange wood has become very dark over the years. Many wood species change colors, some faster than others.

Suggested Blades: Gold #5 for Western Red Cedar or any softwood. Platinum Plus #5, Platinum #5, TLB #5 for the hardwoods. PLP #2/0, or TLB #2/0 to cut the interior lines (after the exterior lines are cut).
